Sol Squad for Women of Color

Welcoming, transformative, safe

Sol Squad for Women of Color create nourishing, imaginative spaces for women of color to build cross racial solidarity and explore how they want to show up in and for a multiracial democracy.

About Sol Squad
for Women of Color

Over the past two years, whenever a conversation about self-care popped up, we slowly realized that the only self-care I was interested in was the self-care that came from being in union with the power, intelligence, spirit, and inspiration of other women of color.

The purpose of Sol Squad for Women of Color is to gather women of color across lines of racial and ethnic identity, age, geography, and more. Through these gatherings, we aspire to learn from one another and build a foundation for a political home — since as we know, the personal is political. It turned out to be exactly what many of us needed.

Sol Squad is an opportunity to explore the kind of political (and communal) experience you want to have as a woman of color in your individual life and in your community. We’ll spend time talking about how we interact and intersect with policy and how policy intersects (or doesn’t) with us. These conversations are an intentional space for thoughts, emotions, embodiment, and synthesis on a particular topic or issue.

How it Works

Sol Squad meets online, for 75 minutes each week, at the same day and time, for eight weeks. Each week, we’ll focus on one issue from different perspectives. I’ll provide topics for and facilitate the first four weeks, and the Squad will decide on a topic and facilitating member for each of the second four weeks.

Time is our most precious resource. For your investment, our goal is that each of us will come away with a greater understanding of ourselves, other women of color, and the issues that affect us all, and greater illumination of the power we hold as individuals and as a collective.
